Associate Athletic Director-External Affairs

Brad Parrott is Associate Athletic Director for External Affairs at the University of Texas at San Antonio.  In his current assignment, Parrott is responsible for development, long range planning and community relations for the Athletic Department.

A native of Midwest City, Oklahoma, Parrott graduated from Central State University in Edmond, Oklahoma in 1975 with a bachelor’s degree in journalism.  From 1974 to 1978, he was a sports reporter with the Oklahoma City Times.

Parrott began a career with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in 1978 as a public relations manager in Oklahoma City.  He progressed through a series of assignments in Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri and Texas.  He retired from SBC Communications in June 2001 as Vice President-External Affairs for South Texas.

Parrott joined the UTSA Athletic Department staff in September 2001.  His first assignment was Director-Community Relations and Promotions where he was responsible for the Department’s outreach to the campus and community.  He was promoted to his current position in June 2002.

Throughout his adult life, Parrott has been an active member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.  He has served on boards of directors in Oklahoma, Kansas and Missouri.  He currently serves on the Alamo Area FCA Board of Directors.  Parrott also is a guest columnist for The San Antonio Christian Beacon.

Parrott and his wife Brenda have a son Brandon, 31, and daughter Bradie Vera, 26.  They moved to San Antonio in March 1993 along with 400 other families as a result of the relocation of SBC’s (now AT&T) corporate headquarters from St. Louis.
